artist profile
Pat has been a painter all of her adult life. She knew she wanted to be an artist in third grade, though as a daughter of dairy farmers it was not a profession she was born into. Pat enjoys teaching as much as she loves painting. Pat encourages her students to capture the ordinary but look at it differently for according to Pat, "art is all about seeing things differently."
Currently Pat and her friend are involved in a project called 'Faces of Savage,' where the artists are connecting with the community by painting oil portraits of people living or working in Savage and the community is connecting with them by sharing with them faces and stories.

my painting style
"I approach every painting with the attitude, “It may or may not be a masterpiece but it will always be good practice”. I want people to look at my art and say, “Sure looks like she had fun painting that”.
She stresses getting the gesture, rhythm, and mood of the painting and getting it quickly. "In landscape the light changes, in portraiture the model moves, and in a floral still life the flowers wilt." Besides, she says, "A quickly painted painting reflects enthusiasm and energy while tapping into the soul of the artist."
